What is parathyroid cancer?

Parathyroid cancer is a rare malignant tumour of the parathyroid glands that usually manifests with:

• parathyroid crisis
• very high levels of calcium and parathyroid hormone
• a mass in the neck
• extension into neighbouring structures
• lymph node metastases
• distant metastases
• a lump in the neck
• extension to the adjacent structures
